Balsamiq Mockups – a great way to design user interfaces
Johan Kohlström, 2010-02-18, 13:57, Avdelning Mobility, Osorterat, Tips & tricks, Usability, Utveckling, iPhoneThis monday our developers were talking about a good way to design user interfaces in a quick, easy and agile way. The tool they talked about was called Balsamiq Mockups. So, as the tech freak I am I could not keep my fingers away from this thing. In my job I both need and like to do very simple user interfaces so that I can show our customers approximately how things will turn out. This in itself is the key! That´s what makes us talk the same language and that is what makes us come up with new stronger ideas in their daily business. In short – it makes it easier for us to help our customers to develop their business faster!
So far the tool for me have been MS Visio which is a superb tool, but not for this task. So yesterday I tried out the free evaluation version and after 5 minutes I had my first user interface ready for an application on iPhone that we are soon to release for one of our most loved customers. I decided that I want to show this tool for more people and try it out a bit more. So I mailed Balsamiq and asked if I could get a free demo license for demonstration purpose and today, an hour ago, they answered with giving me a license. Most appreciated, I will now demonstrate the product for our customers as promised!
Below is my first user interface made in about 10 minutes, that is not bad for a new tool. Try it out yourself!
